First Church works in conjunction with Urban Partners Los Angeles to offer several programs designed to serve our neighbors.


Food DistributionFood Distribution
Every Saturday from 8 to 10am, volunteers from First Church distribute groceries free of charge to our neighbors. The food is provided through Hope Net.
Aerobic classesAerobics and Zumba Classes
Tuesday through Friday evenings from 6 to 7:30pm in the basement gym. Cost is $1 per student.
Francis Avenue Community GardenFrancis Avenue Community Garden
A Neighborhood garden, founded by members of First Church now operated by the Neighborhood Land Trust and owned by the City of Los Angeles. The garden offers garden plots for growing vegetables and a variety of classes.
Math ClassesMath Classes
Saturdays and Sundays 10am to noon. These free classes teach basic math skills to neighborhood children. Classes are conducted by volunteers from the church led by First Church member, Sean Gabe. Meets in the Church basement.
Computer LabComputer Lab
Saturdays and Sundays 10am to noon. Led by First Church member, Sean Gabe. Meets in the Church basement.
Field Trips - Bolsa Chica WetlandsField Trips
Urban Partners works with the Sierra Club and other partner organizations to organize field trips for neighborhood children.  We have arranged trips to Griffith Park, the Natural History Museum and Bolsa Chica, among others.
ESL ClassESL Classes
Offered on Saturday mornings at 10:00 a.m. Taught by Rev. Dr. Detlef Schwartz. No pre-registration is necessary.

First Church serves the Koreatown/Westlake neighborhoods of Los Angeles with programs that address neighborhood needs. Our rooms are used for neighborhood meetings and events. Our neighbors see our steeple as the center of their neighborhood.
