We will set a budget for the coming fiscal year, and elect a three-person panel to nominate Board candidates for the Annual Meeting in December. Please plan to attend. Condolences to William PortilloIt's with much sadness that we inform you of the passing of the mother of staff member William Portillo. She died May 25. William left for El Salvador and will not be here for the next two Sundays. Social JusticeThe Social Justice Fellowship Team will be meeting immediately after the service Sunday June 6 to briefly discuss future projects. Join in the Fun!Join with us in providing information about social services to people in need. On Saturday mornings, during our food distribution program, church volunteers provide information and referrals to food recipients on a variety of medical, dental and other social services resources. For two hours, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 am. every Saturday morning, members of the Church’s Health Cabinet are here to interact and act as good neighbors. Our group calls themselves the Community Helpers. QueensCare is the
sponsoring/supervising agency of this medical information program which is
operating at several neighborhood churches. UULMCA Announces Young Adult Water Justice Road TripJune 12-20 is the 2nd Annual Water Justice Road Trip for Young Adults between ages 18 and 35. The itinerary includes 9 non-stop days of fun, insight and awesome scenery for a registration of only $395. The Road Trip is a program of the Unitarian Universalist Legislative Ministry. Stops include canoeing on Mono Lake, a trip up the Owens valley, camping in Yosemite, rafting through the Double Lickety Split on the Kern River. Participants will hear tales from the Water Wars when Los Angeles sucked water from the eastern Sierra for its growing population; see the Ballona Wetlands Land Trust where people have been working to restore wetlands, learn about the history of the public trust doctrine and much more. Over the course of the trip, young adult Unitarian Universalists will discover the spirit in justice work, make friends for life, learn an enormous amount and see some of the mountains that have inspired generations of California writers and artists.
